Richard Pike rewards 5-Decade Exam Challenge excellence in Bolton
Dr Richard Pike, chief executive of the RSC, recently awarded Toryn Dalton of Bolton Boys Division with his prize of £500 for his excellent performance in a national RSC competition.
Toryn scored an exceptional 84 per cent in the RSC's 5-Decade Exam Challenge, placing him third out of 1300 entrants from across the UK. The average mark in the competition was just 25 per cent.
Dr Pike visited the school to award Toryn his prize, and also give a presentation to a group of students called "Chemistry, Energy and Climate Change", which highlights the inconsistencies in current energy and environmental strategies, and challenges misleading information that still finds its way into school textbooks and other material issued into the public domain.
