China's leading chemical scientist receives RSC honour

One of China's top chemists, Prof. Bai Chunli, becomes the first Chinese scientist honoured by the Royal Society of Chemistry for his innovative research in chemistry. 

Richard Pike, RSC chief executive, granted the certificate of the honorary fellow of the RSC to Prof. Bai in Beijing, at a ceremony widely reported by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). 

Prof. Bai Chunli, is the leading chemical scientist in China. His key positions are currently Vice President, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Director of the Division of Chemistry and member of the Executive Committee of the Presidium. 

The 54-year-old chemist, is also president of the Chinese Chemical Society, and is leading the most cutting-edge research on molecular nanostructure and nanotechnology in China, which earned him election in April 2006 as the elite foreign associate of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences (NAS). 

Prof. Bai has been devoted to the development of nano-science and technology and its public understanding. 

As president of the Chinese Chemical Society, he actively promotes the exchanges and cooperation in chemistry between China and other parts of the world.
