Criminal-catching chemistry is front page news

An RSC Fellow is making the news in a sensational way through the remarkable work of a company called SmartWater.

The company achieved front page coverage in the Sunday Times for its product that leads to criminals being marked with a chemical that police can trace.

The 100-person firm is based in Shropshire.

Headed by former policeman Phil Cleary, the firm produces products from its secret laboratories where his brother Mike Cleary, a Fellow of the RSC, develops new ways of marking property and, through them, the culprits.

The latest demonstration was in Kent where the company shoed how fly-tippers can be caught when the people dumping the rubbish get marked.
