RSC Publishing launches new beta publications platform
RSC Publishing announces the launch of a new integrated online platform allowing over 500,000 journal articles, book chapters and database records to be searched through one simple interface.
Key features include:
- Single search interface for journal, book and database content
- Faceted browsing - a technique that allows rapid filtering of results
- Topic clouds to highlight latest research
- Integrated tools for bookmarking, saving and sharing information
- Saved searches and alerts
- Librarian login and branding
- Dynamic news feeds
The new platform aims to deliver faster browsing, intelligent searching and more intuitive navigation and is open for beta-testing now.
The key benefit of releasing the platform as an open beta is that early and frequent releases help create a tight feedback loop between the development of the platform and users, enabling us to listen to and fulfill user requirements," says Electronic Publisher, Graham McCann, "the 'release early, release often' philosophy empowers the user to help define what the platform will become - the partnership between us and our users should result in producing something exceptional."

RSC Publishing beta is powered by MarkLogic Server, the industry's leading XML content server, which helps free the content within the platform for dynamic use in new ways. State of the art navigational tools such as faceted browsing and topic clouds help users to find the content they are looking for quickly and discover related content simultaneously.
