RSC encourages broad view on science funding
The RSC encourages the six bodies reviewing science funding for the government to ask "what is good for science as a whole" on the front cover of the prestigious science news journal Research Fortnight today.
The piece draws in quotes from many learned societies following the Royal Academy of Engineers' controversial stance on long-term science research funding.
RSC chief executive Dr Richard Pike called for the six bodies to avoid a collegial view, Research Fortnight reports.
"If you look at the six they clearly, in some cases, have their own furrows to plough," said Dr Pike.
"They need to be standing back and asking what is really good for science as a whole and for the UK as a whole and that is the debate we need to have with government."
