RSC and CDD announce partnership
The Royal Society of Chemistry's ChemSpider, a leading provider of chemical services and data on the internet, and Collaborative Drug Discovery (CDD), have implemented two-way linking of public compounds that were previously only in CDD.
As part of an earlier collaboration, users of CDD, the provider of the most widely used cloud-based drug discovery software platform on the market, could click through from a molecule in the public datasets and link directly to content in ChemSpider. Now the return process has been enabled so anyone using ChemSpider will be able to click through to the CDD public datasets on its website.
Dr. Sean Ekins, collaborations director at CDD, Inc., described some of the benefits of this valuable two-way integration: "We believe exposing these public datasets in ChemSpider will naturally raise awareness amongst all scientists of the value of the being able to access public data with private data in our Vaults. Previously we linked out from molecules securely in CDD to ChemSpider, now for the first time we are opening up our data to link in from ChemSpider, in order to expose more people to CDD. This will help people find CDD for the first time and allow them to experience the best of what we both have to offer."
Dr Antony Williams, vice president of strategic development, at the RSC agreed: "ChemSpider continues its mission to link together chemistry resources on the internet and in this collaboration we have established a simple navigation between our platforms that is sure to benefit both CDD and ChemSpider users and ultimately drug discovery researchers seeking public domain data."
