RSC responds to House of Lords science and technology select committee report on nuclear research

Dr Brian Carter, RSC environmental sciences programme manager, said: "The RSC welcomes the report from the House of Lords Science and Technology Committee on the UK's nuclear research and development capabilities which echoes the messages that we highlighted in our submission to the Committee. 

"Without significant investment in skills relevant to the nuclear industry the UK will not have sufficient expertise available to ensure a safe and secure supply of nuclear energy.

"Without a significant increase in nuclear power generation there will be an impact on the country's ability to meet the commitments  to greenhouse gas emission reduction that have been set by UK government."
