RSC President welcomes RCUK statement on equality and diversity
RSC President Professor Lesley Yellowlees has welcomed today's announcement by Research Councils UK (RCUK) on their policy to support equality and diversity in research.
The new Statement of Expectations for Equality and Diversity aims to drive more rapid cultural change in the management of equality and diversity in RCUK-funded institutions.
Professor Yellowlees said: "This new statement is a sensible step forward by RCUK in pushing equality and diversity further up the agenda in the academic research community, and the RSC fully supports this.
"The RSC is dedicated to ensuring that the chemical science community works and develops in an inclusive environment built on the skills, knowledge and experience of the very best chemists - regardless of gender, age, disability or social, ethnic or financial background.
"The expectations of funded institutions outlined in this statement are welcome support for the RSC's activities to nurture a skilled, talented chemistry community with members encompassing all cultures, backgrounds and experience."
