Get into chemistry teaching
Apply for a £27.5k tax-free scholarship from the Royal Society of Chemistry, to train as a chemistry teacher.
Generous, tax-free funding is available to the best graduates training in a range of subjects. You could be awarded a prestigious scholarship – which provides additional support and benefits throughout your training year.
The Government has just announced the financial incentives available for people who want to do postgraduate chemistry teacher training in 2017/18. You could be eligible for tax-free financial support, either as a scholarship of £27,500, or a bursary of up to £25,000 while you train.
Professor Sir John Holman, president of the Royal Society of Chemistry, says: “We are pleased to continue our partnership with DfE, supporting and recognising chemistry specialists as they go through their initial teacher training programme.
“The young people of today will make the chemical advances of tomorrow, from new medicines to renewable fuels. Their journey starts with great teaching and that’s why we support new chemistry teachers with expertise in the subject.
“I am encouraged that we are supporting more than 100 scholars in the 2016/17 academic year. These scholars are inspirational people who we hope will ignite a spark in the next generation of scientists across the UK.”
