Our new director of science policy
Jo Reynolds has been appointed as our new director of science policy. An experienced senior leader in the non-profit sector, Jo has a PhD in biochemistry from the University of Cambridge.
She was most recently at Cancer Research UK where she developed CRUK’s first five-year strategy and was responsible for overseeing its implementation and evaluation. She led a programme of change across CRUK’s 18 nationwide centres, transformed CRUK’s brand and engagement with the research community and led a Citizen Science programme from innovation to multi-award winning programme (including a Digital Emmy). She has also worked at The Wellcome Trust.
Jo will be responsible for leading the organisation’s science, external relations and industry work.
Jo says: "I'm passionate about the role that science can play for global benefit and so I’m really excited to be joining the organisation at this important time.
"Local, national and global politics and issues are more complex than ever. The Royal Society of Chemistry has a vital role to play, working with its diverse community, in providing evidence and expertise to influence decision makers.
"I look forward to continuing to build a trusted and authoritative voice for the chemical sciences."
