Celebrating International Women’s Day 2017
Many of our community came together to celebrate women studying and working in the chemical sciences, on International Women’s Day 2017, which took place on 8 March this year.
International Women's Day has been observed since the early 1900s and is an important opportunity to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. Raising visibility and awareness can help drive positive change for women.
No one government, NGO, charity, corporation, academic institution, women's network or media hub is solely responsible for International Women's Day and – right around the world – there were thousands of conferences, gatherings, rallies, exhibitions and festivals this year.
For our part, on the day we posted a large number of stories about inspirational women from our community – including some of our 175 faces of chemistry – and we asked you to tweet us about what you were up to.
Read our inspiring Storify collection, which rounds up lots of the activity from our community on the day.
