A successful Chemistry Week at Sir Jonathan North Girls’ College
Chemistry Week 2021
Staff at Sir Jonathan North Girls’ College ran a series of activities for pupils during Chemistry Week.
By Cath Mynott
The number of participants this year was incredible – with approximately 200 students getting involved. The theme this year was sustainability to coincide with COP26 in Glasgow. A generous grant from the Royal Society of Chemistry enabled us to run a number of different and varied activities. These included:
- Lunchtime activities involving the 3R's – reduce, reuse and recycle.
- A chemistry master class provided by the National space Academy on space travel for the future.
- A workshop on wind turbines by the Museum educator services.
- Live online chat with "I'm a scientist" within the Clean World Zone at Cop26.
- Making the SJNGC logo out of recycled materials.
